| | Off to Watertown South Dakota to see the Terry Redlin Gallery! | | I started my vacation yesterday...Today I am picking up my younger sister and we are doing a two day road trip. We are going to stop and shop....visit her mother in law. Stop by our parent's graves to put a new flag on dads and flowers on mom's....then going to Watertown via several small towns stopping like I said to shop at stamping and scrapping stores and whatever else we can find. I'll be back tomorrow night for my granddaughters fourth birthday party. Do you ever take small road trips? Seeing Terry Redlins Gallery has been on my list of things I wanted to do for a long time. Do you take the time to make a special effort to see something you have desired to see for a long time? Do you travel with other family members? | |
| | Abortion ban returns to ballot in South Dakota | | The hot political potato of abortion is again being tossed about in South Dakota. If passed, it will be a nail in the coffin of Roe V. Wade.
*
This second South Dakota proposal is a bit watered down as compared to the first. Women may have abortions onreported cases of rape or incest, (many are unreported, which under this proposal, would leave manyvictims carrying fetuses) if the pregnancy is shown to endanger the life or health of the mother, andthat is it.
*
Some doctors fear this proposed law will interfere with patient doctor relationships. Some medical procedures would have to be delayed until approved legally. This can make some painful decisions even more difficult. An example would be being forced by law to carry a fatally ill child to term who you know would have no quality of life.
*
People outside of South Dakota need to be aware of this as it could in future be proposed law in the state in which you live.
*
It does not matter if you personally feel abortion is right or wrong. This is about the government poking it's nose in the most intimate portion of a person's life. The government is becoming more intrusive in degrees....

| | | May Blizzard shuts down parts of South Dakota | | http://www.upi.com/NewsTrack/Top_News/2008/05/02/may_blizzard_shuts_down_parts_of_s_dakota/1201/April showers bring May Snow? Somehow that doesn't seem right but that' is what is happening in parts of S. Dakota as a May Blizzard shuts down parts of the state. With wind gusts up to 50 miles an hour and heavy snow one would think this was the middle of winter not May 3rd.I can't even begin to think of hat would happen if we got a may snow storm like that here in Maryland, and how the state would cope, hopefully for the state, it blows through quickly and melts fast with a warming front. What would you do if you were caught in a blizzard like this?Do you think mother nature didn't get the memo that its spring?Mooch | |
| | Its a beautiful spring day in South Dakota | | After this crazy weather, we have a beautiful spring day. It is supposed to be in the 50s here and I hope to enjoy it after I get some laundry done. I was sick yesterday and still feel a little tired but hoping this weather will wake me up. I hope where ever everyone is at, that you all have a great day and enjoy the sunshine.
If I didn't have to work tonite, I would go for a walk or just be outdoors enjoying this weather. But have to work and get stuff done. Take care all
| | South Dakota will lead the US in producing ethanol | | President Bush signed a historic bill for renewable energy for South Dakota. "South Dakotans just received a huge Christmas present that will fuel our economy for decades to come,” said Reid Jensen, president of the South Dakota Corn Growers Association. “Ethanol is a $2 billion economic engine in South Dakota and within our borders we have the two largest ethanol producing companies in the world. The energy bill will open new opportunities for this state to become the source for renewable energy." This sounds great! It's about time. Now maybe South Dakota will set the standard for the rest of the US to get off fossil fuels!
