| I started my Aerogarden again..... | | Well 3 days ago I set up my aerogarden again. This time I am growing herbs. I already have tiny little baby herbs growing! I love my aerogarden. Last time I grew lettuces. Next time I want to do either strawberries or tomatoes. I wish I had tow of them so I could grow two different things at once. May have to buy another one when I start back to work. Anybody else have an aerogarden? | |
| | I'm Nuts about My New AeroGarden Planter | | This is an item I first saw on an ad here on myLot, and although it took a while for me to actually make up my mind to buy it, I knew from the first glance I had to get one eventually. Well, we like it so much we have already ordered a second one and I have been going nuts taking photos and bragging it up on my blog. the aerogarden by AeroGrow is a computerized hydroponic garden appliance of sorts, but instead of using water in place of dirt, the device mists the roots which live in air out of site inside the base of the unit. It looks very much like a lamp and does indeed have very bright grow lights, which fortunately shut themselves off at night or we would not be able to sleep.
We haven't had it long enough to give a reliable review, but I can say that the first seeds sprouted and little green leaves were visible the very next day, and that the photo below shows seedlings less than 6 days old. What is your impression of this sort of toy? Do you think I will really be able to grow cucumbers and tomatoes in my kitchen? How about eggplants? I want to put roses in one of them!
Any other suggestions?

| | Would anyone recommend an Aerogarden? | | So I've been wanting a garden for quite some time, but we've been apartment living and I don't really see an end to that in the near future. Has anyone had success with growing things in an Aerogarden? Would it be better to just grow in pots? I tried some herbs in pots last year, but they were overrun with gnats in the soil. I'm really interested in growing tomatoes, and it seems that the Aerogarden would be good for this purpose. What do you think? From people who've used it, is it worth the money? | |

| | Have you instilled a love of gardening in your children? | | My daughter is starting to love gardening. It has taken awhile and she is 18 years old. She likes getting our own homegrown veggies and saving money on the grocery bill. She also loves to can! She loves making relishes and pickles and making jams too. I am very proud of her! She loves canning the veggies we get from the garden and those we get from the farmers market as well. She loves harvesting the veggies and loves harvesting fresh herbs from the garden and the aerogarden. | |

| What kind of houseplants do you have? | | I have two hawaiian plants that have white blooms that smell so good. I also have two other tropical plants that are supposed to have orange and red blooms but they haven't bloomed yet. I have a philadendron (I know that is spelled wrong). I also have a desert rose plant. Oh and the aerogarden also. I like to have plants inside cause it purifies the air and looks lovely. Do you have houseplants? If so what kind? | |
| | A Universal Wishlist | | Before you go on and start thinking about my list involving international countries, think again. I finally finished up my holiday (and another event) wishlist on Amazon. com last night due to the nagging and prodding of those people around me who want to know NOW. So I started looking for the things just on the site and then finally I saw a feature that they have. Universal Wishlist. You can add it to your browser and just click on it everytime you see a non-Amazon. com webpage with the item you like. I think it is very cool and very convenient. I don't know how many myLotters already know about this but can you tell I'm still awed by such a feature? Here's the link to it if you guys want to know more. http://www.amazon.com/wishlist/universalIt is NOT IMPOSSIBLE to have a low-budget yet VERY GREAT holiday celebration, y'all. | |

| I Can Hardly Wait to Eat This | | Some of my myLot friends have already commented on my new tomato avatar. This came in an AeroGrow seed kit along with some yellow tomatoes and that plant produced a little earlier, so we have been enjoying eating those, but have not yet tasted any of our own homegrown red ones yet. It took a little over two months for the plants to grow indoors with their roots in the water and bright lamps overhead.
After waiting and anticipating this first red tomato for so long, it had better taste really good! The kit had both red and yellow ones, and the yellows grew faster, so we have been eating a few of those and they are delicious. It is just that it takes them so long to ripen even after the little baby tomatoes get big enough to see.
Is there any food that you waited a long time in anticipation of eating? Did it live up to your expectations? At the risk of making everyone here hungry, please describe the food you had to wait to eat! Why did you have to wait? Will you want it again soon? Will you get it again soon? Have fun with this:-}Below is a bigger photo of my new avatar:
| | What is your favorite subject to shoot? | | I tend to be more of a nature, landscape and macro shooter. I love all things in nature from animals to plants. I have been having to readjust my subject matter since moving to FL. I live in a big city so I am trying to fall in love with this type of subject matter it is not easy. I do love to go downtown and shoot river shots and shots of the architecture and old churches.
